Sponz Festival

The live story of Sponz Fest: music, words and community spread across Alta Irpinia, streamed live even from places the network didn't reach.

Live filming and streaming of Sponz Fest across Alta Irpinia
/ Overview

The project

A widespread festival of stages, squares and pathways: a story that had to hold live music and a sense of community together.

Artide covered a full week of events — every one of them, in every location: multicamera live filming and streams distributed on Vinicio Capossela's and Regione Campania's channels.

The production ran on two levels: an on-site control room for the main stage, and a hub in Calitri receiving and managing the feeds from every other location across the territory.

Alongside the live coverage, a dedicated team produced the festival's branded and institutional content, through to highlights, aftermovie and photography.

The challenge

A widespread festival has no single stage: events across different villages, squares and pathways of Alta Irpinia, with acoustics and light changing at every location and setups to move and rebuild continuously.

Above all: in most locations there was no internet. The network the streams travelled on was ours, brought in by the production — bonded connectivity sized for the job, because when the network is the production, you bring your own.

/ Approach

What we did

01

Widespread live coverage

Multicamera coverage of every festival event, in every location: from the main stage, with its own on-site direction, to the concerts and talks scattered across the villages and squares of the territory.

02

Calitri hub & brought-in connectivity

Outlying locations were connected over bonded links to the central hub in Calitri, which managed feeds, direction and playout. Where the network didn't reach, we brought it: the streams ran entirely on our own connectivity, with audio taken from each stage's FOH.

03

Streams, content & archive

Live distribution on Vinicio Capossela's and Regione Campania's channels, while a parallel team produced the festival's branded and institutional content. After the festival: highlights, aftermovie and photography for channels and partners.

Frequently asked questions

Can you stream live from places with no internet coverage?
Yes. At Sponz Fest most locations had no network at all: we brought our own connectivity, with bonded links sized by the production. The festival's streams ran entirely on our network.
How do you cover a festival spread across several villages?
With a two-level production: an on-site control room for the main stage and a central hub — in Calitri, in Sponz's case — receiving the feeds from every other location, managing them and sending them to air. The audience sees one coherent story.
Beyond the live streams, what do you deliver to a festival?
A ready-to-use archive: event highlights, an aftermovie, photography and branded and institutional content for the festival's and partners' channels.
Do you also work with public bodies and institutions?
Yes. At Sponz Fest the streams were also distributed on Regione Campania's channels, and the content team produced the festival's institutional assets. As a certified Cultural and Creative Enterprise (ICC) we regularly work with cultural and public institutions.
